I am working with the same employer in Atlanta since 2003, and planning to visit india for the first time in 2 years for my wedding. I got my H-1B extented till 2007 and this would be my first visit to india since i came here and my H-1B extension. . What all necessary documents do i need for the restamping and when should i send those to the US consulate? Do they need my documents 1-2 months in advance as per the appointment date or right there on the spot.. I have an appointment for April 22, 2005 at New Delhi Consulate, for myself and my future wife for her H-4 at the same time as a dependent.. Please let me know how does the process goes for the re-entering to US and what all formalities/paperwork i need to have ready. Please guide me so that the process goes smooth

At the very least you will need the following:

1) Letter of employment describing your job duties, salary and how you qualify for this job,
2) Original I-797 approval notice for your H1,
3) Copy of LCA filed in support of your H1,
3) Copies of recent (3-6 months) paystubs.

If you work for a "body shop" you will also need a list of clients, pictures of your work place, and sometimes a list of ALL H1 sponsorships.

For your spouse you will also need original marriage certificate, your h1 approval notice.
