Returning for visit

Hi,
Thanks in advance for your kind feedback.

We have GC and REP (expiring Dec 2011) for myself, wife and 2 children. We have been now outside of the US for 18 months and will return in July for visiting relatives. I am working for the same employer as in the US, and are planning to stay overseas for a couple more years before returning to the US.

Questions:
1) when is the best time to renew your REP. Shall we wait until they expire, or planning to start on the application now. Hope that the biometric appt can be made during our visit in July.
2) what do we need to bring as additional documents for the immigration officer at the port of entry? Tax returns, birth certs, employer ref, bank statements?
3) what are potential questions That the immigration officer may say during reentry?

We are all pretty nervous going back, thanks again!

You need to be in the US when filing the reentry permit application (including when USCIS receives it), in addition to being in the US for the biometric appointment.

If they realize you were outside the US when it was filed, they will deny or revoke it.
