Friends,
I have a Green Card issued on March 2002.
I left the US towards the end of June, 2003 and have been in India since. I have documentation to show that my company intended for that move to be temporary in nature. I did not apply for a reentry permit then.
It is almost six months since I left and my work still requires me to be in India.
I therefore plan to make a trip back soon for about 2 weeks. During that trip I plan to apply for a Re-entry permit. I will also stay at my residence in the US and renew my driving license etc.
The questions I have is :
1. From the GC point of view, it this trip required.
If it is , then is whatever I plan to do above sufficient.
If it is'nt , then I have to plan to make it before completing
a year outside the US.
2. From the citizenship point of view, it this trip required.
I have all the requirements to prove that I intend to be a permanent resident of the US like an address, investments, drivers license etc. I also genuinely hope to move back some time soon.
Thanks,
LaF
