While we were waiting at the entrance of the ASC to get our prints taken, the receptionist looked at the hands of the person in front of us and said something like "your prints won't be good -- go home and use hand cream everyday for a week and come back". Then she put a note on his NOA. The prints don't always work.
It shouldn't slow you down very much (if at all). In the early going, everything (prints, namecheck, etc) seems to go in parallel. (of course I really don't know anything other than what I've observed in the past year).
Don't worry. But, before you leave, make sure that the person who's taking your prints tells you that they are good and get the supervisor to check them out as well.
