Response from Senator - finally

Guys, I took the letter from this thread:
http://boards.immigration.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=79351
and modified it for my case. I did not change it too much. Just to fill you in, I got asylum in 1998, got married last year and my wife is currently on student visa. In the letter I explained the hardship we have to go through and little bit more specific details about me. As you can see, the letter is straight forward and to the point. Read his response (next post), very political, isn't it? But at least he responded. Other Senator I wrote to and other Representatives of my state did not even respond. I’m planning to write a response to his letter. Any suggestions guys?

Letter from Senator

UNITED STATES SENATE
WASHINGTON, DC 20510-2506

May 7, 2003

Dear Mr. XXXXXXXXXXX

Thank you for contacting my office to share your comments on immigration. I appreciate the time you have taken to share your views with me, and I welcome the opportunity to respond.

I would welcome people who come to this country because they want to build something for themselves and their families. That is the traditional American way. I would close the border to people who want to hurt America-like terrorists, obviously-or to people who want a handout. When I worked for welfare reform in 1996, we ended welfare for non-citizens, with some exceptions. People who immigrate to the United States should come to work, or should be sponsored by someone who can care for them.

I am in favor of strict enforcement of immigration laws. The INS needs to enforce the laws against those here illegally, while at the same time, providing responsive service to those who waited their turn and entered legally.

Again, thank you for contacting me. If I may be of further assistance, please don’t hesitate to call or write.

Sincerely,
XXXXXXXXXX
United States Senator

This senator is a true politician. There is just words that don't mean anything and he has not commited to anything. No wonder majority of politicians fit the portrayal of slimeballs. I am sure there are exceptions to this.

It is me just venting out....please don't take it seriously..

Agree.

They are like baby dipers - after a while the both has to be changed, and it's for the very same reason. They become dirty and begin to stink...

rik-tik-tak -----that was so good example (funy)...:)
if you don't minde it, I will use it all the time now on .

You see guys; it is very hard with some Congressmen. Some of us are lucky but some are represented with pure slimeball politicians. I'm preparing my response to him, and I will be specific to the point going over OUR PROBLEMS, my personal situation and his unspecified response. I did mention in the letter that I do not need help, but that Asylees agenda be moved to higher priority. They can help all of us, but sometimes they choose to help only one individual. Well, maybe one victory is victory for all of us. At least for me, I'm happy when somebody gets help from Congressman. However, this is very rare. I will let you know if I get second response.

nofreedom, I would not do that if I were you. It is obvious that this guy represents the new paranoid mentality in America. Currently, America has become such a police state that they can arrest you and hold you without any evidence and since you are not a permanant resident, they may really hurt you and accuse you of harassing the senator. It is such a shame that he responded to you in such a fronting and fake way. I really wish he did not respond.

This letter is a long way of saying nothing and is quite standard for politicians. I would encourage you to respond--just be polite. Perhaps you want to post your draft here for comments first--with personal information deleted of course.
