Hi,

I received the following message from CSC-XII.485@dhs.gov when I enquired about the name check status for my spouse.

-------
Your case, along with your spouse (principal applicant), are scheduled for the fingerprint appointment at the USCIS San Jose office on XXXXXXX at XXX PM. Unfortunately, you must be re-fingerprinted because your previous prints expired. The appointment notices will be mailed out shortly. Thank you.

Does this mean that the name check has been cleared. We had our fingerprints taken in Jan'05 and I am assuming they have expired now.

But in Oct '05 we completed a Biometrics Code 2 appt. (which also included finger printing). Is biometrics a seperate procedure from the regular finger printing.

My I-485 ND 12/14/04: Status name check pending.

Thanks

It probably means nothing, just FP expired. You FP notice should be code 1 which is used for FBI FP check. Biometric is for green card itself.

Thanks GCIsTortoise. Will the FBI name check process now be re-initiated as part of the new finger printing.

Name Check & Finger Print has no connection with each other

No. this FP is just for criminal check not name check. What I don't understand is that how a criminal changes finger print very year.

Criminal do not change FP.. but the FBI database is updated daily with new cases & new FPs.. So USCIS wants updated info from FBI about the applicant involved in any crime after 15 months of first Info received.
