Residency

If one obtains Canadian Residency but lives and works in US, how do one keep the Canadian PR from expiring? One way is to enter Canda by air, get the entrance stamp and cross into US by road (as suggested by some one on this bord). Since no tracking is done at the border, Candian immigration cannot verify that you do not live in Canada. Besides being morally wrong, one cannot apply for citizenship as you have to file three years of Income tax returns. If one maintains a home ( by signing a lease and paying rent), does the Canadian immigration consider it as maintaining residency? Can one file for citizenship based on this? Any responses are greatly appreciated.
Thnaks.

this is just temporary work around

What you are telling may keep your PR alive for some time, you can slip back and forth if you dont encounter a senior officer but i wont suggest you applying for citizenship and getting yourself in trouble

Please read my post carefully.

I was not suggesting that you do any thing illegal. The only reason I even alluded to this solution is to bring up the disadvantages with it. I\'am exploring the varoius ways of keeping Candian PR alive while not living in Canada.

well.... about taxes !

Well the legal way is the 183 rule. Goto official website and read it.

As far as taxes are concerned, US and Canada have tax treaty in between. When you file Taxes in Canada legally you have to show your US income and pay the difference in Canada, if you show your US income when on PR ! you will get your PR in trouble.
