Residency and physical presence requirements question

Hello,

Do I need to satisfy residency and physical presence requirements for N-400 on the day of my interview or on the day when I file my N-400 application?

You have to meet the requiements at the time of filing and all the way through your oath date.

That is not entirely correct. The physical presence requirement must be met at the time of filing; trips taken after filing don't affect it. But the continuous residence requirement must be met when applying* and all the way until the oath.


*one is allowed to apply when it's 90 days before completing the 5 years (or 3 years, if applying with the 3-year marriage rule)
