Rescheduling of FP please advise

My I485 was filled in Nebraska on Sep 12 and i still do not have any receipt number. My cheque was cashed but I still do not have recipt number.
I am planning to go to backhome in the end of December. I am worried about my FP. My lawyer said he will be able to reschedule it. Please advise should I go or not. Once I reschedule normally how long does it take to get the date again.

The FP notice clearly stated that if you are unable to go to the appointment on the given date you can go any following open day upto a deadline date. ASC have an open day when they take missed appointments.

This is what mine said:


If you are unable to appear at this time, you may go an
FOLLOWING Wednesday at the same time moted above, as long as you appear
before 01/27/2007. If you do not have your biometrics taken by that date, your application will be considered abandoned.

 
When We (my wife and I ) received the FP notice, that week my wife was scheduled to travel. We didn't reschedule the FP appointment. Instead, we went to the San Jose, CA immigration office and asked if we can be finger-printed and they agreed since it was not very corwded. No big deal and we were releived.

FP Reschedule Option !

But not all FP Notice gives the option to reschedule the appointment. Some FP Notice doesnt have the Last Paragraph saying the option to reschedule!

Anybody has any update........Pls
