Rescheduling FP

I would like to reschedule FP for my wife. She is in India and can come only in April first week. She has medical emergency.


If rescheduled, what are repurcurssions?

1. After how many days will I get the new FP date? Will it be 1 month from the original date?

2. Can I not go to do FP after scheduled date? I think one has 90 days from original date to do FP.

Today I went to INS ASC. I told the officer about my problem. My FP notice read that I have to do it on the appointed date else reschedule failure to which it is considered abandoned.

He said that as long as I have notice he can do it any time, that is before the scheduled date.

Secondly, I told him that I need to reschedule and the new date is a month after the scheduled date. He said no need, he has authority to take FP within 90 days of originial date. I just have to show up on any Wednesday or Saturday. I was little worried as I can not take the oral approval. He said he will write on the FP notice that I showed up at INS before scheduled date and I have rescheduled the date on so and so ( within 90 days window) date.

I think, this is cool as he is an INS Officer putting INS stamp on his wording. What more we need?

So guys relaxed, missed FP, you have 90 days to do it.

Secondly, you can always go ahead of schedule date, if they are not busy they will do FP.

Thank you for your info. Although the 90 day period probably holds good, I think there is a lot of site to site variation in letting you go in early for FP ahead of your scheduled time.
