rescheduling FP after missing scheduled date

I am out of country in India and planning to extend my vacation by around 10 days. That would mean I will miss the 2nd FP scheduled at SFO.
Based on search in the posts, one can try Salinas, Sacremonto etc in North CA even if one has missed scheduled dates as those ASC's do not verify dates as close as say SFO.
Otherwise, you have 90 days from scheduled date to reschedule.

My concerns,
1. Is it recommended I should come back for FP on scheduled date as there is no urgency per se, just a family function.

2. Whats the worst case in rescheduling? How much can rescheduling delay the process? My first guess is a few months worst case.

3. Is it really that easy to FP at such locations as Salinas, Sacremento on dates other than on your notice?

cheers!!

Hi Karma,
I recently received the 2nd FP notice. In that notice, it clearly says in block letters that if you miss the appointment or do not re-schedule your appointment before the appointment date, your application will be considered abandoned.

The exact words are,

RESCHEDULING YOUR APPOINTMENT WILL DELAY YOUR APPLICATION. IF YOU FAIL TO APPEAR AS SCHEDULED BELOW AND FAIL TO REQUEST RESCHEDULING, YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE CONSIDERED ABANDONED.

To reschedule your FP, just you have to send the bottom portion of your FP notice to the specified address. Anyone can do it for you, even when you are out of the country.

So, do the needful in time to avoid more issues.
Good luck!!
