Rescheduling CP Interview

Hi,
I am considering the possibiity of post-poning my interveiw at Delhi embassy, so that my spouse could be included in the interview. The hints that I got from the embassy staff is that I can be scheduled for an interveiw some time late June/early july. When i filed the application I was single but I a planning to get married in a couple of weeks and my lawyer is suggesting that I consider delaying the interview by a month and that will enable the embassy to schedule her along with my intreveiw date. So two questions:
1. Do you think embassy will re-schedule without much problem.
2. Am I incurring additional risks by re-scheduling.
3. How likely is that she will be included within a month timeframe. The last thing I want is that they reschedul me that embassy is not ready with her application.

Answer: YEs. Provide a valid reason such as getting married soon and would like to include spouse on your cp application.

Answer: No. Risk is that you have to make sure that you haev a job until the rescheduled date but no specific risk from the consulate standpoint.

Answer: Once you are married, you will need to file her DS 230 with marriage certificate and then wait until her P3 review is complete and then request interview for both of you. So with this option you are looking at at least 2-3 months delay from the time you apply for your spouse.

The other option is you get married first, attend your interview and during interview inform the consular officer that you are married (show marriage certificate) include a copy along with ds 230 part 1 for your spouse. You finish your cp interview as planned and you spouse can attend the cp interview in about 60 days after submitting such application and then join you a little later.

With either option you are looking at a 2-2.5 month delay for your spouse and either 2.5 months delay with option 1 or no delay with option 2. Choice is yours!

Thanks

Thanks a lot. The last week I consulted with an immigration lawyer and she suggested that I send an email note to the embassy telling that they request another visa number for her to expedite her interview later. I didn't think it was possible before marriage. What are your thoughts. From your response it also seems that this may not do much in cutting down the 2-2.5 months wait.

You can add her to your cp case right now provided you get married prior to the interview and you are in position to prove the marriage based on a combination of marriage cert, photos, invitation card and so on. Also when she returns to usa along with you or later within 180 days of such approval she will get a conditional PR status since the marriage is less than 2 years old. At the completion of 2 years, both of you would need to go to local INS office to get her permanent PR status.

P3 stands for Packet 3 which is basically ds 230 part 1 completed document for the consular process.
