Requirement for COS from L1 to H1

Can someone let me know what are the requirements for L1 to H1 Visa (COS)? Do I have to apply for new H1 or is there a separate process?

Your employer will file petition for a new H1. You will be subject to H1 quota. After the petition is approved, you will receive I-797 with new I-94 notated with H1 status. YOu will need a new H1 visa when you travel out of US and return since your L1 visa will not be valid any more.
