I have been reading the posts on this forum and read somehere that W2 forms and IRS transcripts are required for the interview. However, when I read packet 4 instructions on the consulate website, it does not mention any such thing for Employment based CP -- only requirement is a notarized letter from employer. Am I correct?

In general it is not required.

But it is recommended to have it on you. It shows 2 things :
o your employment history
o If you are filing an affidavit of support it will be supporting document for the same.

thanks guys

what is an affidavit of support? I have a copy of the letter sent to my attorney from the NVC
Instruction packet Lawyer I-140
which says "we have recieved immigrant visa and affidavit of support fees".
Does that mean that the affidavit has been filed?
Thanks again -- you all are real helpful.
By the way my case was completed at NVC on Feb 9th -- awaiting further instructions.

If you read you interview notice they also ask you to carry a few more documents.
Besides all thse Documents The interviewer also asked for the Business Lic.

They usually dont ask for the above Docs but you should always be safe than sorry later.
I hope you have a good interview. All the best
Ps: affidavit of support is I presume Form 864 . My lawyer carried that for me.

An affidavit of support promises to provide support and assistance to the immigrant if necessary. In this case for the dependents. For details, refer http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/files/i-134.pdf . As I understand it, your instruction packet indicates that they recived the fees not the affidavit. You need to take the affidavit to the interview

I think it is wise to carry everything mentioned in this forum in additional to documents listed in P4. P4 does not asks for degree/diploma certificates, but I was asked to show mine. Luckily I had mine with me.
Good luck with your CP.

What is the difference between a tax transcript and a tax return? Which do I need? Thanks.
Would I have to carry paystubs for all the years I have worked here?

I don't know the difference, but I know you need tax transcripts. You can get last 3 years' Tax transcripts from IRS by calling 800-829-1040 (free service) and also have W2 for 3 years.
It's a good idea to carry paystubs with you, but last 6 months paystubs should be more than enough.
