Gurus,

Applied for Canadian PR in June 2002 and received file number in Nov' 2002. In Sept 2003, received a letter from the Buffalo Office that an interview is required. They also sent me the medical forms and have asked me to wait for further instructions regarding interview and medicals.

Last week, I received another letter from the Buffalo office stating that my file has been transferred to the Newyork Office. In case of any questions, I need to contact only the NY office and not the Buffalo office.

Did anyone encounter a similar situation?. If yes, How long did it take for the interview date after the file was transferred from Buffalo to Newyork.

Please share your thoughts and suggestions.

Thanks,
DA

Dave:
I received a letter from Buffalo that my file have been transfered to NYC last week. My initial assesment was done a long time back
oct 2002 but in between changed addresses and got married and when I followed it was already a year had passed by.They didn't sent me any points. They asked my wife info and now this letter of interview.

when did you received your letter and is your interview scheduled?

thanks

justcause.

Justcause

My interview is not yet scheduled. The last time I received the letter was during the second week of Ocotber wherein they indicated that my file was transferred to the Newyork office and an interview may be required and they also informed me that all my enquiries should henceforth be directed to the Newyork office and not the Buffalo office.

They indicated that I should be able to receive the interview letter in next 7 to 10 months. Keeping my fingers crossed. They have sent me the Medical forms for me and my family and have asked me to do the medicals after I receive the interview letter.

Meanwhile I have requested CAIPS to know the status of my file. The CAIPS result is expected in another 5 weeks. I will let you know what comes through.

Since we are in the same boat, it would be better if we keep one another updated.

Thanks,
Dave

Justcause/Jalbalajings/Ginnu, Is it worth it to get CAIPS result ?

Hi All,

My brother applied for Canada from Singapore in Nov 2002. His case processing started in April 2003. I belive it takes 2-3 years from Singapore, and today only 1 year is passed.

Well, Is it worthful to get CAIPS result for my brother ? What is charge and what info I will get at this stage ? Is that info will be helpful ??

I m Canadian Immigrant and staying in USA. My brother stays in India and India's citizen.

Jalabalajings, sorry for putting this question here.

Thanks.

Re: Justcause/Jalbalajings/Ginnu, Is it worth it to get CAIPS result ?

Vshah,

It is definitely worth to get the status from CAIPS. Atleast you would know at what stage of the process you are?.

You could do a CAIPS basic for US$ 30.00. Visit www.caips.ca for more information.

for VS Shah- CAIPS notes

Don't get your CAIPS notes before you get an initial assessment as it will not reveal anything except the following:
the name of the officer who has the file, and the 'Bring forward' date-that is the date on which this file will pop up on thier alert system if they don't assess it earlier.
I made this mistake and the money was waited not to mention the additional anxiety.
Satish

satish, what do u mean by initial assesment ?

Well, He applied 1 year back. He got date of 'processing started'.
He applied from Singapore. It takes total 2-3 years to be done.

So, you mean applicant has not received initial assessment. what is initial assessment ? Some letter receiving from Canadian embassy ? He has not received any letter except 'processing started in April end 2003'.

Means, applicant should not file for CAIPS.

Please clarify. Thanks...

initial assessment

CIC gets back with the first assessment of the application by the visa officer. The officer decides whether
1. interview is needed
2. to waive interview and to proceed with medicals etc.
3. to reject application
It is taking about 15-18 months to get an intial assessment thru Buffalo.

Interview Request

Friends,

Today I received a letter from the New york consulate that an interview has been scheduled for the 4th February. I applied for the Canadian PR in the later part of May 2002, got my file number in November 2002, initial assessment completed and letter sent from Buffalo stating that interview is required and file is being transferred to the Newyork Office. This letter was received in September 2003. Also received the medical forms. Yet to do the medicals.

Does anybody know if they would stamp the passport the same day the interview is over?. Also does anybody know what kind of questions are asked in the interview?.

Any inputs for the aboe questions are appreciated.

Thanks,
DA
