I entered the USA as an asylum derivative on June 26th, 2023, after getting the approval of my I- 730.

I handed my sealed envelope that has the I 765 form to the officer at CBP at that day, and he handed me my i94 card.

Till now, I have not received any receipt number from USCIS.
I tried twice to apply for my social security number, and the employees told me that my information is not verified by USCIS yet.

I don't know what alien number I should share with SSN.L, I got one for my i-730 and another alien number from NVC!!!

It has been two months since i entered, and this issue has not not been solved even when i called USCIS.

My main issue is to get the social security number since I can not drive or manage anything here without it, Please if you can share me your experience, I would be extremely grateful

People in legal status who do not have SSNs can get driver's licenses in every state. What state are you in? What else do you need SSN for?

Lawful presence documents for Texas driver's license for asylees include I-94 annotated with "asylee".

People who do not have an SSN and are ineligible for an SSN can sign an affidavit. Texas Administrative Code Title 37 Rule 15.42(e) says:
(e) Applicants who state they have not applied for, have not been issued or do not have an SSN assigned by the Social Security Administration will be given the department's "Social Security" affidavit for completion. This sworn affidavit will contain:
(1) The applicant's full name, date of birth, and driver license or identification certificate number;
(2) A statement that the applicant has not applied for, been issued or assigned an SSN by the United States Social Security Administration;
(3) A statement of release for verification and investigative purposes;
(4) A notice that failure to provide required information to the department may result in the cancellation of the applicant's driver license or identification certificate per Texas Transportation Code, §521.314; and
(5) A notice that the applicant can be subject to other criminal penalties including Texas Transportation Code, §521.451 and §521.454.
I believe the affidavit may look like this.

The Texas DPS page on Social Security Number also says (in section "Individuals Who Don't Have a SSN"):
Individuals utilizing the affidavit must certify to the following:
  • never applied for a SSN
  • never issued or assigned a SSN
  • are not eligible for a SSN
  • applied for and been denied a SSN due to ineligibility
The problem is that someone in your status is eligible for an SSN, so I don't know if you can use this affidavit.

The SSA manual on evidence of asylee status says I-94 with asylum granted stamp is acceptable. Is the problem that SAVE verification doesn't verify your status?

Hi Zaky,

Basically, you won't get a social until USCIS verifies status. It takes 6-8 weeks or longer. You have to keep on calling your local social office and USCIS to push them. You can now apply for an original SSN or (replacement SSN card) on the same application form you will use to apply for permission to work legally in the U.S, I765. In your case, as derivative, I have seen USCIS automatically send the work permits.

Ok, it seems all beneficiary of same category are getting late.
Did you apply for i765 (employement authorization) and when? And Which state you are in?
I came to US after approval of i-730 since June 2023 amd till now did not get my work permit!

I applied for social with the i94 but it took long time till verification.
Try doing this but i am not sure because It seems you applied for i-730 from inside US while I came from outside US after approval.
But it should be easier for you!

Hello everyone,
I got my asylum approved from court last month and i want to apply for i730, do you know how long approximately takes for my family to come over? Does it matter the country itself or all same process? Do i need affidavits sponsor for this kind of petition? Do i need to have EAD or i94 is enough for myself to work?
