Hi,

Sent medicals on july 1st week.
Received the request for passports. Once the stamping is over, how log can we delay entering into canada. My company has an office in canada and it may take some time for me to get a transfer. Somebody was telling me that we can stay out of canada 2 yrs out of 5yrs. Is that true. pl. reply

Thx in adv.

when you get your visa stampnig in the passport, it comes with an expiry date, usually one year from your medical test date. you need to complete your landing process by that time. otherwise, your pr visa is of no use. once you land in canada, you can always come back to US and work here. you can stay outside canada for 3 yrs in any given 5 yr period. hope this info helps you.

Last month, my online message changed to 'Decision Made'. Assuming that the case was approved, how long will it take to get something in writing from Canadian Immigration Authorities?

What are the next steps in the process and apprximate time frame for each step?

My Interview was waived and Medicals were submitted in end July, '03.

Would appreciate any information on the above.

Thanks
TriSam

as soon as you get a letter stating your interview is waived and medical forms are sent to you, the online status will be "decision made". from the point of sending your medical results, you may need to wait for about 3 to 4 months before they ask your pasport for visa stamping. so you should get the letter anytime now. once they ask your passport, you have usually 30 days to send it to them. once they receive your passport they usually take about 2/3 weeks to return it to you. then you have to land before the visa expiry date on the immigrant visa stamped in your passport. hope this information helps.

It took two months for me for passport request after medicals.
And my on-line status still states that in-propcess. Are they still doing the background checks...
Thanks in inadvance

Re: Passport

In my case I got a letter requesting for my passport a month and a half after I mailed my medicals. Once I mailed my passport I got it back in 8 days .

Thanks for your replies.

cnatar02,
I believe the online status changes to 'Decision Made' only after they receive the medicals.
If it is taking about 2 months for passport request after submission of medicals, I can expect it any time now.

ks1974,
Did you send the medicals yourself? In my case the doctor sent them directly.
