Representative/Attorney Cover letter

Hi All
I am self-petitioning my I-140 in EB1-EA category.
I wrote the whole cover letter and all other evidence as a second person, as if an attorney is representing me or he is writing the whole thing on behalf of me
For example in the cover letter I wrote
"Dr. Sulpha is an internationally recognized and highly regarded researcher/scientist in the area of future energy needs and currently working in yy company"

But in the end of the cover letter, I have to sign off with whoever is writing the letter (that would be my name since I am self petitioning) for example

"Yours Sincerely

Sulpha, Phd"

I do not want to write the whole thing (cover letter, evidence etc) replacing "Dr.Sulpha" everywhere in the document with "I" since it sounds awkward.
For example:
"Iam an internationally recognized and highly regarded researcher/scientist in the area of future energy needs and currently working in yy company"

So i checked if someone else can represent me other than a lawyer, say my brother or my friend etc by submitting the form G28.

I can rewrite the whole thing with "I' everywhere instead of Dr.Sulpha, but it would look more like I blow my own trumpet.

It would be great if someone who self-petitioned could guide me on this.

Thanks
Sulpha

If you are self-petitioning (without attorney), then I suggest you to write using "I". But, as you already mentioned, it would look like you blow your own trumpet. The art is to write it in a style that it wouldn't look that way- still conveying your credentials/qualifications convincingly.

Remember, the (USCIS) officers look for convincing arguments, not just statements. For example, a statement like

Dr. Sulpha is an internationally recognized and highly regarded researcher/scientist in the area of future energy needs and currently working in yy company

doesn't have any value if it cannot be substantiated with citations, papers, how other people used results of your finding in their research etc.

So, you can write, for example (just assume that you work on solar cell research) ... "during my stay at ... company, I developed a method for enhancing the overall conversion efficiency of the solar cells (Write more about your findings in plain, simple words that a layman can understand). With this research, I had shown that .... affects the conversion efficiency of the solar cell. Another major outcome of this research is that I have shown that an improvement of 5 fold on the conversion is possible if .... is realized. The results of my work has been published in.... This work has been cited .... times since its publication in 2008. Prof. ..., who is an expert in solar cell research, who also has published ... books and ... papers in this subject wrote, in a letter appended to this application [Exhibit ....] "the results Dr. Sulpha presented shows that a dramatic increase in solar conversion efficiency can be achieved by .... These results have potential impact on the development of efficient solar cells.

This type of presentation is more convincing with facts (your papers, its citations and an expert in the field supporting your statements).

To show that you are internationally recognized, get letters from people outside US, show that your papers have been cited by research groups in other countries. In addition, if you can show that some one has used your method in their work (rather than a `passive' citation), that would be even better.

So, in short, you don't have to blow your own trumpet, you can write in such a way that you make your points clear and convincing.

Thanks HH. I am going to redo some of the letter and the other writeup I have for original contribution.
