Replying to RFE yourself

Typical situation, I don't like my lawyer, because .. I don't understand what is he doing really .. if anything. At this point, I have an RFE, I have arranged all the documents, but I don't want to send them over to him since I am not sure he will send them to INS in a timely manner if ever.

Can I reply to the RFE myself?

Of course you can. In case you want to keep your lawyer in the loop, you can send him a photocopy of the RFE (after you've sent your reply to BCIS). BCIS is only interested in your reply, doesn't matter whether you or your lawyer sends it. :)

Sure. I replied RFE in May. But you need to get the original RFE notice first from lawyer.

Thats what I was worried about.

gc_2000, what does the notice look like?

RFE letter is a blue paper with a bar code

Sillyman:

RFE letter is a blue paper with a bar code and it contains case number and what they requested as part of RFE.

Not sure if a copy works. In any case, you can ask your lawyer to send one.

Replied to my own RFE and got transferred. (may be AC21 and AR 11 and job in completely different area or they may not liked me :-) or response to RFE)

Good luck.

NJ(VSC) to CA (CSC) service area

Sillyman - talking about NJ(VSC) to CA (CSC) service area.
Did it play a role? Not sure, but could have potentially played a role.

Ignorant local office folks asked me if i requested a transfer.
Politely replied - can i do that? if yes, why would i do that. Would have rather preferred to have it approved ASAP.

But they did trace the files out physically and informed around October i will have an interview. Only thing is had to spend my day from 2:30 AM in the queue.

Oh BTW, got my AP renewed during the same trip. They approved the same day and asked me to come back 5 days later to pickup though. (Santa Ana).

Just getting ready to apply for my 3rd EAD soon!! (based on the interview date)

Keeping the current job seems to be another issue. I will see if i can the pull the ordeal.

At the same time, i am on the lookout for local attorneys to accompany me for the interview. Not sure if i would need to based on the quality lawyers.

Perhaps Shusterman/Frogomen may be too expensive and may or may not be willing to do this.

Any ideas?

RFE

You have to include original RFE letter which is blue in color or else they will send it back. you have follow the usual process of responding to an RFE. IF u want to send it to me, i can have it reviewed from one of my friend, she is a lawyer. if you need to contact me send an email to raj_bags@yahoo.com.

I can help u here since you have done a wonderful job by helping others (answerng questions, sharing experiences.....)

Without hesitation ask your screwed up lawyer to send you the original copy, since you are going to respond to it, also mention that you will mark a copy to that ass...

anyway what is the content of RFE. Please let us know so that we can also get ready. thanks

Thanks Monster. Apparently my attorney says he will co-operate, but if he doesn't I'll send you an email.

Here was my RFE.

1. My 2001, 2002 w2, 1040, schedules blah blah. And 3 recent paystubs
2. Company's 2000 and 01 tax submission docs.
3. Prospective employment letter. If you've changed jobs, explain why.

Good luck.
