Tombaan, right now anything that will get your case noticed , go for it. I too have noted a change of address is triggering off something. But mind you, there are Lot of people who have filed AR-11. I can't remember the stats on that.
As per buying a house, I bought it after my labor had got approved, since I was getting close to 6 yrs on h1.
If you find some house you really like, the interest rates are still lower, and if you believe you have a steady job in the area you are living in, then buying a house will be a good idea.

i haven't bought a house during the h1 stage myself but i've seen others do it. if you think your job is secure, then why wait. and besides, even if you're a citizen and you lose your job, the financial risks are the same.

I completed 6 years in this country. I am on EAD and do not have an H1. Recently, I bought a house. i would say- go for it!!

Yes, I changed my job after 180 days. No, I didn't inform abt the address change..i do not want to generate a query for sure..Rest depends on God's hands.
