Hi
I am a Malaysian Citizen with a PIO card. I recently acquired US citizenship and since Malaysia doesn't permit dual citizenship, I will be renouncing the Malaysian Citizenship. I also plan to "upgrade" my PIO to OCI, since India will issue OCI to US citizens (they won't to Malaysians).

I have a few questions:

1) Do you think travel to India is possible with my US passport+ PIO (which references my now expired Malaysian passport) , as long as I carry the expired Malaysian passport too? Or do I need to update the PIO to reflect the US citizenship?

2) Can I apply for the OCI now, or do I need to renounce Malaysian citizenship first? WHen applying for OCI, should I submit my PIO card?

3) I read somewhere that PIO and OCI are being merged. Has this happened yet? If so, there doesn't seem much need for me to upgrade, just to get it endorsed with my US passport number...any thoughts?

thanks guys
