Renouncing indian citizenship + OCI application together (SFO)

I recently got my US citizenship, and was planning on doing the entire process (renouncing + new OCI ) together. Is that a good idea or should i do the renouncing process first and then apply for OCI?
The answer is YES and NO.
First Yes,
Technically you can do that prior to TRAVISA.
Second No,
TRAVISA are very dumb people. From reading on this forum I get the message that TRAVISA is only following what is in the front of their computer screen.
So, a good way for you go about this whole process, and less hassle is to apply for the Renunciation certificate first, and then do your O.C.I process once you have secured the Renunciation certificate singed and stamped by the concerned authority from the Indian Consulate or Embassy depending on your state of residence and its respective jurisdiction to the consulate or embassy.
