Renewing green card while in traveling aboard

Hi,

My green card will be expired in 6 months. From what I have researched so far, I can start applying I-90 now. The dilemma is I have to be in my native country for 1 year soon. My plan is to apply for I-90 now, and wait for my biometric appt. after having biometrics done, I will go back my native country, and when I receive the renewed green card in the US, I will have it mailed to me in my native country (my relative will help me out with that). Questions:

1. Is this plan feasible? Any thing that I oversee?
2. Will USCIS deny my I-90 because I will not be in the USA?
3. Will I have problem entering US a year later using the new green card?

Thanks for any help

Don't send it by mail. Use a private courier like Fedex/DHL/UPS.

You don't need to be in the US for I-90, except for biometrics.

You will have a problem if you stay outside the US for 1 year without a reentry permit or an exception such as serving in the US military. If you don't meet such an exception, make sure to apply for a reentry permit or return in less than a year.
