Renewal of Passport, after DS156 is completed

Hi,

I have an appointment on March 10th,2006 in Chennai consulate for B1.

The appointment (HDFC receipt) were taken on my old passport no. And now my passport is renewed. And I filled in DS 156 with my old passport details.

How can we update the new passport details for the appointment, as it is on my old passport no?

Help me how to go about this ASAP.

As per my understanding it is okay to carry both passports at the time of interview with a cover letter explaining the situation.
If still in doubt email the consulate in question for advice
