Renewal Advise Please

Hello All,

I've been a silent watcher on this site for some time now. Here is my situation. My wife and I filed for 485 last Feb'02. from NJ. Our GC is sponsored through my company. We both did our fingerprinting last May. While awaiting a feedback on our case, my H1 is expiring in mid March 03 and EAD expires first week of April. We're still within the 6 year limit on H1(came to US in Jan'99). Given this situation, do I renew my H1 or EAD or both? If I need to renew both, can I do it myself rather than going through my attorney again to save some money? How difficult it is for a first timer? Please advise

Renewing the H1 has to be done through the comapny. But reading all the posts here I saw many people who applied EAD renewal on their own. By the way there is no need to apply for your H1 renewal as you already have EAD unless you want to be on the safe side. Just apply for EAD renewal and I don't think your company will apply your H1 extension because you are already in AOS.

I would go for H1 extension, if I have some years left. You can renew EAD anytime you want. No big deal. But H1 is always safe in this political scenario while going out and coming in into the country, if something happens to your GC.
