Hello,

I first want to say that Im glad I found a Immirgation board that people are actually nice and respectful so that I feel confertable asking you guys a queston.

I am a Canadian Citizen, My Step-Father is sponsering me for Perment Residence (Who's from Michigan). I sent in my Relative Package (I-130, I-485..etc) in Early of this Month (June) and USCIS received it on June 16th. I got a Notice in the mail for an Interview a week later (I didn't expect it to be this fast...Amazing! lol), The Interview will be on next Friday at 9am so I am excited but yet nervous.

The Queston I have is, What questons would I have to face, like does anyone have examples or been in the same situation that I am in? because Im afrad that my Step-Father might answer the questons wrong because I am the one that prepaired this Case, I did my research for the last 4 months to prepair my forms, Im just worried that I will be rejected thats all.

I'd Appreate it very much, Oh also I had to quickly schedule a Medical Exam in which costs me $200.00 and I go this Monday coming up for the exam (Because USCIS told me not to send it in with the Package, just wait til you receive your interview letter and go to one of the listed doctors in your area on their Site).

Oh Also, If Accepted, will they provide me a Temporary Green Card or something at the interview so I can Cross the border, Go to school, get a job..etc?

Thanks you guys!

Weird, I thought you had to send the medical form with your package. Not a big deal though, they might request it before the interview. I would suggest you do the medical exam now, just in case they will request it (RFE) before your interview!

About crossing the border and getting a job: in order to travel you will have to file I-131 (Advance Parole) and in order to work you need to file I-765 (EAD). These cases take about 2 to 3 months to be processed, so you should file these as soon as possible.
As for going to school, you should check with your school. Some of them will let you enroll with your pending AOS status.

Good luck to you! :)

Well actually, I called USCIS and they said that I should wait til I get a Interview appointment in the Mail. I mean Im scared If I go out and get the Medical exam, then later I get a letter in the mail being Denied or something then I just wasted 200.00 for nothing.. so is it best to wait for the Interview Letter to come in or just go on and do the Exam right then cause it could take up to 5-6 Months til a Interview.

Also, the I-765 is a work permit you can use while the case is pending or is this a "Forever" thing that I must file if I want to work in the U.S. forever lol?

You won't get denied before the interview (unless in rare cases, e.g. they send you a notice to do something and you don't respond or something like that), so just do your medical now. If you call the USCIS service number, there is an option for getting a list of all civil surgeons in your area who can do the medical. Compare their prizes. 200 Dollars seems alright, but I know of people who got it a little cheaper. Depends on the doctor.
Also, if you have a shot record, bring that, it could reduce the prize, too.

The I-765 is a work permit that you can use while your AOS is pending. After that your GC will be your work permit.
It's your call. Some are stuck in name check, which is delaying their case. Some get their GC even before they could approve your I-765. That's rather rare though.

Again, it's your call.

Good luck! :)

Well Thank you, but how long is the Medical Exam valid for? like is it good for a full year or no?

Also, I created a Thread about using S/N, Now like I said in the thread that I have a S/N and some people have told me that I can use it for Driver's Licease and Work because its mine to keep forever and especially cause Im legally here, so do you think it would be find If I use it for Work and Driver's ED? or do I have to continue in going with the Work Permit (I-765)?

I again, I very Appreate you answering my questons respectfully :).

Yes, I believe the medical will be valid for a year.

As for your old Social, I'm not sure. I don't see why you shouldn't be able to use it. On the other hand, I don't know if it is legal for you to work.
Well in this matter you better wait for more knowledgable people to answer.

:)
