Hi there, my friend (25F) recently got her F1 via rejected in Colombia. The interview lasted for about 2 minutes and the officer was an Asian men fluent in Spanish.

To provide some background,
1. She did not attend university but has a high school education.
2. She has extensive traveling experience in Europe and owns property in Colombia. Unfortunately, the interview was so fast that she couldn't even mention these things to the officer.

Here is the transcript of the interview:
1. why are you going to the USA? To study english
1. who is your sponsor? My sponsor is my godfather
1. why did you pick this school in San Francisco? I researched about the institute, it has a good program and very good reviews. I like that it is located in San Francisco.
1. what is your job? I am a hairstylist.

Then she was hit with the 214b rejection.

She contacted the school about the rejection and the school provided the following suggestions:
- she should re-apply for a new F1 interview again in a month.
- her answer to question 4 is probably the main reason for her rejection. It is unlikely that a hairstylist in Colombia has any needs for English. Thus, it seems unlikely that she will return to Colombia. They recommend her to say "student" instead of hair stylist if she's asked about her occupation again.
- coincidentally, my friend has since stopped working at her salon and has began enrolling in digital media in a local community college.
- The school offered my friend a conditional acceptance to a digital media program in a sister school provided that she completes their english language course.

Thus, we can expect the following answers in her next interview:
1. why are you going to the USA? to study english for her bachelor degree in digital media.
2. who is your sponsor? My sponsor is my godfather
3. why did you pick this school in San Francisco? This english program is required for my bachelor degree at XXX college in California. XXX college is known for their digital media program.
4. what is your job? I am a student.

Questions

- Do you think this will improve her chances of success?
- If she were to submit a new DS-160 and list only student as her current occupation, is that truthful?
- Any suggestions on how she could do better?
