Registry marriage before CP intvw. & after sending Packet III

I am expecting to get my CP intvw. call in in Mumbai Consulate sometime soon.

Me & my fiancee plan to do a registry marriage, before the interview in the Consulate. Our social marriage is scheduled for later in the year. The Visa Packet III that has been filed by my lawyer, has only my information & application.

My questions below, if anyone can throw some light that would be great !

1. Can I take my wife , for the same interview as mine, or I should inform the consualte before hand, that both of us would be applying and giving interview ? i.e. is this possible or her application needs to be filed separately, and she would get a separate interview call ?

2. What all documents, forms I would need for my wife.

3. It seems the Medical examn. requires you to have an appointment lettter for the interview from the consulate, how will I get my wife's medical examns.s done, if I don't have a separate appointment letter for her ?

I am planning to send email to Mumbai Consullate Immigratnt Visa email(MumbaiIV@state.gov) , should they be able to answer my questions ? Or I should try contacting the Consulate some other way ?

Thanks , appreciate any response & info.

Marrying before CP interview:I am in the same boat

Hi,

I am in the same boat. I have sent my packet 3 and awaiting interview date. I am getting married and would like my wife to attend the same interview if possible.

Adding her name now at NVC will delay the interview date. However, I don't want my interview date to be impacted.

Any clarification on this issue will be useful.

No. You cannot just take your wife for the interview. You will first need to get married and produce a marriage certificate. After your marriage submit the DS-230 part 1 form to the consulate. The consulate will do its part(FBI check, name check ,etc) and schedule a date for your spouse. If you get married right now, you should be able to send the packet 3 for your wife to NVC.

If you get married right now and also file her packet 3 with all appropriate fees then you both will have a same interview date. But if you get married after the CP interview date has been scheduled then your spouse will have a different interview date.

You can also get married after the CP interview but for sure you should be legally married before entering US at any POE.

2. What all documents, forms I would need for my wife.

Your spouse will for sure need the following. Please do more research to find the complete list in this forum.
1. DS 230 Part 1
2. Birth ceritifcate
3. Police Clearance Certificate
4. Qualification certificate
5. etc....

3. It seems the Medical examn. requires you to have an appointment lettter for the interview from the consulate, how will I get my wife's medical examns.s done, if I don't have a separate appointment letter for her ?

You will have to file separately for your spouse. When US consulate is ready to interview her, they will send an appointement letter whichwill be used by your spouse to get her medicals done.

Try sending an e-mail and wait for the reply. You can also browse the internet to find answers to your questions. An immigration attorney can also help you find answers.

Ron Gotcher is an immigration attorney. He answers questions pretty fast. Try postingyour question on the following URL.

Or I should try contacting the Consulate some other way ?

The best place to find answers are listed above.

Thanks , appreciate any response & info.
