registring at the Selective service system can turn into a security threat ?!

hello everyone.

I am a 25 yrs old guy who happen to be a dual national (US and and other Arab country).

Unfortunately, i lived most of my life outside of the US, and decided to move now to complete my studies (wasn't financially feasible for me to live in the US during my childhood or teenage time).

i recently renewed my passport which was expired for a long time, and it wasn't easy. received a lot of harsh questions and interviews (which i deserve for begin late) but i managed to renew it.

i recently discovered that 18-25 years old US males have to register in the SSS. it is mandatory before 26.

the problem is that some guys are telling me not to because i am 25 yrs old (late) and because i am from an Arab ethnic background. my friends are saying that if i register now i would appear to the authority in two prescriptives:

1- a manipulative guy who waited until he reached 25 then registered to reduce his chance of getting in any coming draft.

2- a terror threat to the country begin and ARAB registering late which may mean that the guy have bad intentions.

the issue is causing nightmares for me all what i want to do is to correct my status in the US and be in compliance with the LAW :( .

am i advised to register ?

(regarding the Social security number i am going to file for one ASAP when i visit the US)
(regarding my age i am 25 yrs and 3 month old specifically)

your friends are smoking dope. you can register for selective service if it's not too late now.

thanks for the reply. maybe they are smoking something i do not know for sure x)

so is it late for me to register ? and should i register online normally, or should i contact the SSS through their phone number and explain my situation first ?

What your friends are telling you is complete and utter lunacy.

You are a male U.S. citizen under 26, so you are still required by law to register with Selective Service.
So just go ahead and register.
You don't have to talk to anyone or explain anything to anyone - and there is absolutely no reason for you to call them or to talk to them before registering, absolutely no reason whatsoever.

Registering with Selective Service can be done online in about 2 -3 minutes:
https://www.sss.gov/RegVer/wfRegistration.aspx

Just go ahead, register, and forget about the issue after that; it is simply not worth loosing any sleep over.

thanks for your reply baikal3. you really made my pain go away :)

the issue caused lots of mental stress for me i swear i could not sleep for multiple days from the fear caused by my friends views.

i will get a social security number on July and register immediately.

the problem is that i do not have a permanent address in the US so i guess i will register at the "individuals living abroad section" at the website and put my address outside the US which is permanent.
