Regarding vaccinations..

I don't think I have any of the required vaccinations to get my greencard.

Do I get them during the medical?

Are they included in the price of the medical?

If not, is it my responsibility to get them before?

If I get them after will I have enough time before my interview?

Will I have to have a second medical to confirm I have them?

Thanks for any advice

Vaccinations

Hi,

I remember reading somewhere last year...(I am a May 1st selectee :( .....that if you have your medicals done in Australia, and you grew up in Australia, and attended Australian schools.....then the doctors are familiar with what vaccinations you would have had, and make the assumption that you did.

I can't remember the source, but I would call the doctors that they request you attend - and ask them if that is the case.

Good luck.

Well I am Australian and grew up there, but I am living in Canada so I don't now that the docs there will make the same assumptions.

Just finished my medicals today. The doctor has to review each persons profile and vaccination record if available and decide on What is needed.

My kids did not need any vaccination, however my wife and me had to take a booster doze of MMR and DT, just 2.

the price is not included in the medical but the government here provides it for free,

hope this helps

The vaccination shots you will need as an adult is not many - MMR and DT, especially if you're from a first world country. Whether you get them at the medical depends on whether the physician has a supply of the vaccinations on that particular day you go for the medical. Otherwise, they may either ask you to come back for it or they may ask that you go get it at your local doctor and then have your doctor fax the records of vaccination to the medical physician. One thing you can do is look up the vaccination list required and go get a blood test to see if you are immune from any of the viruses/diseases on the list and take those results to the your medical. However, it is likely you will still require the MMR and DT anyway.
