Regarding starting a new business

Hi

I am on L1B visa and my friend on H1b visa. We are planning to start a new business together. Please let me know whether we can start a new business in United sates with our visas.

If we can start a new business whether we can work in the new comapny?

Also does anybody any information on process of starting the new company in USA

--- you and your friend can start a company (invest) but cannot work for that company in anyway without proper work authorization.

If we can start a new business whether we can work in the new comapny?
your new company should sponsor h1 for you both. in order for your new company to sponsor someone has to sign necessary paper which cannot be you or your friend. catch-22. better option is start a company with greencard holders or citizen and let him/her sponsor h1 for you both and then you can start working for that company. new company shold have sufficient funds to prove that it can pay you wages REGULARLY above the prevailing wage.

address this question in "Starting Business" forum for more replies or similar queries. there are lot of things you need to know before forming a company - business form (llc, corp - c/s types), state etc.

its wise to consult with cpa, business and immigration lawyer before you proceed to even incorporating a company. beware ignorance of law is not an excuse. many people have lost their legal status and deported for having a side business.
