Reg H1 extension and vacation

Hi,

I have some queries regarding my H1 visa and H4 visa for dependants.

Mine and my dependants visa and petition (6 year limit) are expiring in Apr 2009.My GC labor has been approved and I-140 is currently under process.I will be applying for H1 7th year extension sometime in Aug/Sep 2008.I was planning to go to India for vacation in Oct 2008.

Is it possible/advisable to travel to India and back while the extension application is under process? Are there any risks?

Would appreciate your help and any suggestions on this.

I would not travel while the extension petition is in process. There are 2 options, apply for extension after you return (but before your current one expires). Secondly, you can upgrade your application in premium (that wouldn't be necessary though).
