Reg AR-11 receipts from USCIS

Unluckiest

Registered Users (C)
Hi,
I moved from NJ to VA in August 1st week and immediately sent the AR-11 forms to Kentucky address but till now I have'nt received any response from USCIS even though I have the delivery confirmation from USPS.
Are we supposed to receive any response for the AR-11 forms we submitted.
Thankx

how does one know that the change of address has taken effect.

p.s: other than applying something and getting the receipt in the new/old address

Yes , They do !

Yes, the USCIS mails a confirmation to the address change and one should be getting a Notice ( I- 797 C) with their updated address.

I received the same after moving when I filed N-400.

I believe the USCIS sends an Orange colored paper with all application packets informing which number to call and what to file regarding change of address.
I strongly suggest Calling the USCIS customer Service Number for address changes and talking to someone ( it took me approx 45 mins wait time on the phone till I could talk to the representative)

The notice states RD(Of the call made), ND, Applicant name, A # and Phone #.There is a note stating " We have processed your change of address request and updated our systems to include your new address. Future correspondence from INS regarding your application will be sent to the mailing address on this notice."

Thank you for using our new change of address by phone system..etc etc....

There is also a Call Number on the notice.

You are confusing between AR-11 and change of address with USCIS service center.

I never got any confirmation for my change of address request. I sent both AR -11 and certified mail to USCIS center. I had also called the VSC to update my address on my pending 485.

Should I be expecting any confirmation from USCIS regarding the address change?

thanks

Not with AR-11. But I got their signature because I order "return receipt
service" with USPS. It is part of deal with mail delievery not with
AR-11.

So if you do need a USCIS conformation they got your form,
order a return receipt service with USPS

If you need a proof of delivery, then attach a delivery confirmation(an option available with USPS) as well when you send AR-11. You will receive this within a couple of weeks.

Also, you will not receive anything else from USCIS regarding your address change.

But if you have any pending applications with USCIS, then you would normally call the respective service center and update all your pending applications with the new address. If you do this, then you will get a mail from USCIS that they have made changes to your application and updated it with your new address.

This is what happened to me.....

I forgot to put down my DOB on AR-11. So I got a letter from USCIS
saying thet could not process my AR-11.

I called USCIS to update my address on pending 485 application, and I got a LUD but nothing after that. No confirmation. I also sent certified mail with return receipt to USCIS and then got a LUD on my approved EAD application, but no confirmation letter. I got the retrun reciept from usps . Is this my only proof of the address change?

AR-11 only updates your address with the Department of Homeland Security.
You get NO confiramtion for this. Send registered mail so you have a receipt.

AR-11 HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH getting your address changed on your pending USCIS applications. You must phone the USCIS customer service line to update your address for each and every pending case you have. Once you do that in about 4-6 weeks they will send you a letter saying the address has been changed.
You have to change the address for all minor childrens cases. Your spouse would have to phone themselves to update theirs.

It is explained in that page you provided the link for:
"The USCIS has created an additional procedure and recommends additional notifications for those aliens who are also applicants for benefits. An applicant for naturalization may comply with the law by filing a Form AR-11 AND telephoning the National Customer Service Center to advise that office of the change of address. Applicants and petitioners for any other benefits should file a Form AR-11 AND notify in writing the local office processing their case of any change of address. Please see Change of Address (found under Contacting Us) on your local office About Us page."

Notice my highlights.
The AR-11 goes to DHS. If you have applications pending, you also need to inform CIS about your address change, in addition to the AR-11.

JoeF.....if one moves AFTER receiving the physical green card; does that mean you still have to notify USCIS?? (not DHS with AR11 which is mandatory)

DID NOT get any letter from USCIS for 2 months. So sent a certified mail with copy of pending I485 receipt notice and requesting them to change address. It is a plain letter with new address. This was about 3 weeks back..

Havent got anything yet..

What to do next?
