Refused asylum in 2003. No chance to re enter?

I applied for asylum in Feb 2003. It was refused and then I went to the court and the judge refused it. I got a letter asking me to appeal the case or leave USA within 33 days.

Due to improved circumstances in my country I returned within 15 days. My total stay was about 16 months.

In 2007 I went to the embassy to get visa for a visit, they told me you stayed more than 6 months on a B2 visa and that is illegal. I didn't know if inside the embassy they have info about my case or not, but I told them that I contacted the immigration inside USA to be able to stay. They asked me to prove it.

At that time I didn't have any documents with me, but now I was able to get them from my relatives over there.

Now, do i have a chance to get a visa again since I have documents to prove my legal stay?

Or is the returning to my home country will prevent me from re entering USA as that may show that I was not in real danger when I first applied?

Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you were given some time to depart and you did in that time frame, you have a good chance of getting a Visa provided you fulfill all the other requirements.
Just take your asylum proceedings papers specially the last one that has the denial and an order to either file a appeal or leave US in 33 days and your old passport that proves that you did complied with the IJ's orders.

So it is not against me that I returned to my home country?
