Hello,
I got green card on march31 2011 through my husband, who is American citizen. Now due to family circumstances I will have to leave US for more than a year. What are the steps I should do next. I want information about the re entry permits. Also, I am very intersted to save my residency as I also want to get citizenship. I know there is biometrics to be completed before I leave. I want to know how long will it take for me to get to the stage of biometrics if I apply now and I intend to leave US in the mid of june
 
The biometric appointment is usually 2-6 weeks after you submit the application.

The reentry permit will preserve your green card while you're gone for this trip, but if you spend over a year abroad your eligibility for citizenship will be delayed (unless you meet certain exceptions such as being in the US military).
