All,

Does the POE monitor how long you have been out of the country for? How do they do it if they dont know when the person left the country?

just curious as I am planning on taking a big break from my hectic life and visting various countries around the world for 2-3 months. Would that effect my citizenship application in anyway?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Enjoy your travel and worry about nothing, as long as you keep your residence in the US.

Going for vacation for 2-3 months should not be problem at all. It won't affect your citizenship application. It can affects only if the duration of stay is more than 6 months (breaks continuous residency).

Nowadays DHS obtains passengers manifest from airlines. I don't how efficient is that system to figure out duration of absence for every GC holder. Even I assume that system does not work, it's easy to figure out for a BCBP officer from entry stamps of the country you are visting on your passport (unless it's Canada or Mexico).
