Reentry permit

took me 2 weeks, eventhought I didn't need it. You will have to press them hard and to say it is emergency ... you didn't know you you are going at this time because of your company bla bla bla think of something.

Are you talking about the re-entry permit or the refugee travel document nofreedom? The official processing time stops at may 29th 2003. Does this mean it will take a year ?

Don`t you have to be a GC holder to get re-entry permit?

I really have an emergency trip on the 27th of june.
what do you think would be the best route,a RTD or re-entry permit?

I think we already discussed this issue. You do not need re-entry permit. All you need is RTD. Best thing is to check with your lawyer.

re-entry permit. I got my RTD after 6 months wait.

no freedom, Did you say in the application that you need it in a short time or you just sent a follow up letter to them asking them to expedite your re-enrty permit? Thanks a lot

I had a luck with my lawyer who knew INS officers and he expedited the case. However, I went down my self and waited whole day in their office so after a while and seeing me sitting there whole day, they started checking and inquiring about my case so the main INS officer who was working on my case actually came to talk to me. Persistence worked. So, my lawyer pushed, but it was me who actually went down and waited whole day (from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm). I wasn't annoying to them, but every once a while, I would ask if receptionist heard anything. Finally she helped me in the end. I had all the letters and copy of my application with me because when the main officer came to talk to me she had many questions that I had to show documentation for (tickets, visas, travel itinerary and letter of support from the country I went to). Hope this helps.

wow that is interesting nofreedom. Did you go to the local office in your city and they did these things for you? Or did you go to the Nebraska service center. Thanks in advance for your clarification

Local office. I was very nice to them (even though sometimes they were anoyed with me, I persisted). Again, they are there to help you. Look at the walls and you will see 1-800 number to report abuse from INS officers. Use it if necessary :-) This does not mean that other offices will be as fortcoming as this local office (midwest).
