Reentry Permit question

Hello all

Could you please tell me if this works.

I plan to be in the country for 2 1/2 years and then go overseas. Maintain my status by reentry permit for remaining 2 1/2 years and also continous presence by travelling once in 6 months. Then come back or apply from overseas for my citizen ship after 5 years. Could you please let me know if this works. I will also maintain my address/ bank accounts/tax returns etc etc during this period in same state.....

I just want to make sure the 2 1/2 years I am overseas with reentry permit count for my citizenship (continous presence) as long as I keep coming back before the 6 month period expires.

Thanks
Harsha

No, it doesn't.

A reentry permit only preserves your LPR, it doesn't help maintain continuous residence for naturalization purposes. The only thing that does that is an N-470, and they are only issued under very specific circumstances to qualified applicants.

Furthermore, don't even think about trying to fly back to the US every 6 months to maintain your residence that way. That tactic doesn't work either.
