Guys, I know it has been discussed before but I can't remember the answer to this. If I have a GC and an RTD valid till December can I also apply for Reentry Permit right now? I am planning to travel to Eastern Europe in December. I assume I can apply for RP but I need to send my RTD along with I-131 application. Is that right? Thanks in advance.

according to the rules that spelled out in application (for RTD/RP/AP), if you posses a valid RTD and would like to apply for a new one you have to surrender your still valid RTD with your application.
Now, of course, you can send your application without your RTD and wait and see if they ever will notice. If they will notice, than they will notify you by mail and your case will get delayed a little bit until you will send them your RTD. Now, you can play on a safe side, you could send your application accompanied with a police report (- you can get in any local police department by filing report of lost/stolen property) stating that the document was lost.

To Opinion :He can fill a police report ok... you should also tell him what the risks are.....
If you send a police report along with your application saying the RTD is lost. You better not use it to reenter at POE.
I saw somewhere in the forum that once you declared a document lost, you ll always be sent to second inspection. Be cautious.
Simply travel to europe and apply for a RP after you come back in the USA.

send your RTD with the application
