I just received a mail from FBI saying my record check was done on Jan 16 2003 and results forwarded to USCIS. My 1st FP was done on Mar 12 2003.
How can this happen?

Because they are different. Name check is different from FP. Even in my friends case, his name check was requested by BCIS as soon as he filed for 485 (June 2003). But he gave finger prints in march 2004. So be happy that your name check is also cleared. :)
 
By the way, on what date did you request FBI ? I mean when did you send the fax ? And on what date did they reply ?

Hi,
I faxed name check enquiry letter for me and my wife to FBI on june 14th and today morning I got an email saying that
"Dear xxxxx:

Reference is made to your letter dated June 14, 2004, concerning your immigration status. The FBI completed a record check for you on March 8, 2004, and the results were forwarded to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Actually I finished my "FIRST" FP on april 28th 2003!When I contacted FBI for FP results they said they had sent my FP results the same day.huh!
So the waiting continues.And I know my FP results will expire on july 28th........
