My wife and I are U.S. citizens. My parents arrived on their second visit to the U.S. on a Visitor's Visa. We want to apply for a U.S. permanent residence status (green card) for them while they are here (concurrent I-130/I-485/I-131 applications).
My question is this: How long should we wait before we apply for my parent’s green card? A friend suggested that we wait until they have been here at least 3 months before we apply, otherwise we will give the impression that they came here on "false pretenses" (i.e., the visitor visa was just a ruse). They have already been here 6 weeks. Do you think we should wait until they have been here 3 months or do you think this issue is immaterial to the application? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
