RECENTLY FILED I-485 BUT H1 & H4 ARE DUE TO EXPIRE, should renew H1 & H4 visas?

Do I still need to renew my H1 and my dependent\'s
H4 visas?

I believe I-485 approval takes about 1 to 1.5 years
so it is safe to renew our H1 & H4 visas while waiting
for I-485 approval?

After you get your I-485 notices (you + dependents), you are not out of status if your H1 and H4s expire. Everybody who have applied for I-485 and got receipt notices are in "Waiting for AOS" status. AOS meaning "Adjustment of Status". But if any of these 485 filers need to get EAD to go to work. Working without EAD after the expiry of H1 is illegal.
