Hi Everyone,
I would like to share my recent experience while returning back to the US. I am currently waiting for my I-485 decision. I had left the US for a short visit abroad. On my return, I presented my advance parole document to the Officer at immigration. After researching some information on his computer for a while, he then led me to another room where there were other Immigration officers. I was asked to sit down while they further researched information. Soon, another officer called my name and asked me if I had ever been arrested before? I replied "yes" as I was arrested in 2003 for a DUI but settled for reckless driving. He then said that I should be aware that this incidence might affect my immigration status. He then stamped my I-94 and passport and allowed me to re-enter the US. My questions are as follows:
1. Will I continue to experience this interrogation each time I travel abroad and are there any risks involved with travel? (I am due for another international travel soon)
2. I had traveled abroad a few months ago and returned on an H1-B Visa but was not subjected to this interrogation. Did the advance parole document usage lead to this?
Your advice is greatly appreciated.
