Receiving Packet4 in INDIA

hello CP Seniors,
Here i started new thread regarding receiving Packet 4 in INDIA
I have relatives in chennai.
can i send an eamil and ask them to send Packet 4 to Chennai address or i need to give the passport address to receive packet4 instead of getting in USA.

please advice

Looking at couple of messages on the forum: you can inform the consulate about that intent when you inquire about your case reaching them.

Guess you'll do that next week with your case forwraded to the consualte yesterday. When doing so also provide them your address in India to which they can mail the P4 (and specifically ask them to send it to that address).

Going_CP or others can confirm this.

How long before the interview do they mail P4? Does it differ based on whether they are mailing it within India or to the US?

Definitely it's faster if in India. But generally everyone should receive it after 20th of the month before the interview. On this premise I'm waiting for mine very soon with my interview in August.

Guess it's just the appointment letter people are really worried about. Without this getting into the consulate is a bit of hassle. Read Jalabalajings postings.

Reply email from Chennai consulate

hi rashmi/alren/raju,
Tell me how many days i have to wait to get reply email from Chennai consulate.i mean yesterday i send an email to consulate asking them whether they received my packet 3 from NVC or not,but i couldn't get reply today.
normally did they reply immediately or we need to wait for couple of days.

You know that this is a difficult question for us to answer. The general
experience (mine included) is, their normal response time is 1 to 4 days.

But I have also read experiences where if the email contains direct
questions then the response is difficult to get or is delayed.

Thrice I contacted got reply within 2 days max.

Keep some buffer as your question is kind of direct and more over there can be delay answering between L & G questions.

i got reply today fropm consulate saying that they noted the india address for sedning packet4 but they didn't say when is my interview date.i will wait for the dates to publish

Great news, so as rashmi said the response is pretty quick.

Usually mumbai consulate has a trend of not mentioning the interview date they only say we hope to schedule you for an interview in XX month. I am not sure how Chennai replies to that query.

In another post you were asking about the query latest cp interview at chennai I am not sure what you are looking for if it is the link then here you go.

In the initial email even Chennai replies: ...will probably be in XX month. Only if you ask around 10th of n-1 month they give you date in the nth month.

hi Rashmi,
So can i send an email on 16th to consulate to get date.if my interview is not in September can i get October interview date by that time.....
because i don't want to send more emails to consulate.
OR
can consulate sends an email automatically once they publish the interview dates or we need to ask them.
In ur case did u send an email to get date or consulate send an email to u.
one email to say that ur interview is probably in XX or YY month.
I hope u understand my question

VJ when you asked them about your probable date plus gave P4 address in India. They replied just about P4 address. I think you can shoot another email asking when your date would be. I don't think that'll hurt you. Most probably they'll reply Sept/Oct. If they indiacte any one month, that'll be THE MONTH. If you don't want to email them now, wait till 10th of August.

No you have to be "active". Chennai doesn't send your dates passively. Or else you can wait till they publish the dates.
