Received Cert of Naturalization / Change of Name

I currently hold an Indian passport. My wife and I recently received our certificate of naturalization. I am planning on submitting our applications for a US passport at my local post office (is that correct).

My wife's last name has changed.
What are the steps she needs to take to notify the appropriate authorities about the change in her name?

Is there a thread that lists all things that need to be done after receiving the certificate of naturalization?

Thanks.

You simply have to go to each major gov't agency such as DMV, SSA, etc and provide proof of name change. I believe one came with your wife's certificate. You should do the same for banks and schools and employers.

For others such as credit card companies, you simply have to call them and get the customer relations address from them - ask them where you should submit such evidence. They'll walk you through how you should type up a letter requesting an update and mail it in. Remember you should do the same for the 3 credit bureaus.

Its a straight forward process just tedious and time consuming. I went through it and everything was updated within 2 months or so with my new first name.
