Hello Everybody
A friend of mine received his plastic card within 2-3 weeks of his 485 approval. He did not get his passport stamped. Since he already got the card, does he have to get the passport stamped ?? and is there anything else he has to do?? like submitting the I94, H1 pprs etc. He needs to travle out the country within a few days. Is there anything before he leaves USA??

Your responses are greatly appreciated
Thank you

I wouldn't worry too much about it.... The I551 stamp is to both announce that a person is on a residence status and can be used to travel in & out of the US. There could be more reasons for the stamps but they are negligible compared to the ones I mentioned.

So, getting the stamp is required but if you - or in this case your friend - got the card, then don't worry too much about getting the stamp.

On the other hand, if your friend moves or relocates to a new place, he/she will have to notify USCIS about the change of address using AR11 form (which is fulla s**t in my opinion). The I94 will be retained by the airline agent while leaving the country.

As always, all rules for a PR is applicable to your friend as he/she has gotten the GC.

Good luck to y'all

I think (not sure) these days they dont put stamp unless specified.
I know couple of people who got approved and officer didn't stamp their PP.

for traveling your GC should be enough, on a save side you can keep the copy of your approval.

(I dont think people keep their old passport with stamp)

Mine same thing happened I received my green card and the officer didn't stamped my PP.

I think it should be okay as long as you got your green card.

The stamp is merely "Temporary evidence of Legal Permanent Residency". It says so on the stamp. The Green Card is the ultimate, permanent evidence of the above. So if you have the Card, and don't have the stamp, it doesn't matter one bit.

With the card you can travel freely (while observing the conditions about lengths of stay abroad) and can re-enter at most POEs in the US Citizens and LPRs line. And, unlike the stamp, you are unlikely to be referred to secondary inspection.
