Receipt Number or Application Number

I would like to find out if anyone has received the application number that starts with WSC* . I thought it should starts with WAC rather. I am unable to verify the information either through online or through phone. I just received the receipt letter couple of weeks ago and unable to determine the case status.

naturalization cases have different prefixes than other sorts of CIS applications, and to date, they have not upgraded the case status online system to allow you to track naturalization applications. rather than the WAC/EAC/etc receipt numbers, they refer to the old names of the Service Centers--WSC (for western service center)/ESC/etc. They also have the asterisk instead of the dashes. i have no way to know if your particuar case number is valid, but my experience in the area would suggest that it would be.
 
were you able get the case status online with WSC* receipt number. How did you verfiy your case status.
 
I have my receipt # starting with wsc*.
Online status appeared on INS website about one month after I received application receipt notice.
I had FP taken a month ago, but online status has not been updated yet.
Also, people posted here that they had whole naturalization process completed whithout their case status ever appearing online.

When did you receive your FP notice after your PD. How much in advance did you receive the notice for FP Date. Where is your local INS office. What does it say when you actually get to see your case status online.
 
I am in Los Angles DO.
My timeline is
PD - 23 Sep 2004
FP notice received on Dec 11, 2004
FP taken on Jan 11, 2005
Waiting for interview appt.
Online status says "It is taking between 360 and 360 days for us to process this kind of case."
According to INS website current processing date for N400 in LA DO is August 23, 2004.
 
Has anyone experienced calling USCIS to get the status of your case before WSC* appeared online. It seems like USCIS would not be able to provide anymore information. I am wondering how people find out what will be the next step or if the mail get lost and not about it.
