Receipt Number changes?

Verifying the other day my bank account online on the back of the checks I got clearly these numbers:

MSC 06 16x xxx40 (I-130 Mother)
MSC 06 16x xxx39 (I-485 Mother)
MSC 06 16x xxx38 (I-130 Father)
MSC 06 16x xxx37 (I-485 Father)

Today I got three out of four Notice of Action.

The Notices of Action have the Receipt numbers as follows:

MSC 06 16x xxx44 (I-485 Mother)
MSC 06 16x xxx43 (I-130 Father)
MSC 06 16x xxx41 (I-485 Father)

and after a few "combination" on USCIS website I believe I got my mom's I-130 Receipt Number:

MSC 06 16x xxx46 (I-130 Mother)

I'm just wondering, not that is very important, but just out of the curiosity, how comes they put different numbers on the back of the checks than the ones on the Notice of Action?

Suzy,

Just as I said earlier in my post on the other thread... when I saw the receipt no stamped at the back of my check... the nos were not very clear and it was only after trying a few diff combination we succeeded in getting it identified in the USCIS system. However, to our amazement, the no that worked for us has a 7 (the last digit in the recpt no) in place of what seemed a v clear on the back of the check. Later when we received the NoA, we realized that it really was a 7 that looked a clear 6 on the check.

No on check looked like: MSC-06-XXX-XXXX6
Actual Number on NoA: MSC-06-XXX-XXXX7

I too am still wondering - what's up with those nos

The intriguing thing is that I can see the numbers on the back of the check CRYSTAL CLEAR, for me is no doubt, like in your case!?!

Once again I come to the conclusion that using common sense, logic and the general rules that apply in the whole univers doesn't work with CIS :D :D :D

The backside of my checks (the day they were posted on my account online) had blurry numbers and the only thing clear was "MSC". I decided to do some more research after i got back home that day. I got my NOA in mail the same day, so i dropped my investigation totally. :D

Well, yeah, if it wasnt for USCIS trying to keep us in the dark, there would be only Suzy and Publicus on this board making fun of each other :D while everyone would be an expert in immigration and spending quality time with their families insteading of hanging around these forums :D Yaaaeeee to USCIS.... LOL

What a boring alternative

Thank you USCIS for fulfilling our life with excitment and new challenges every day
:D :D :D

...when I'll be don with you, my beloved USCIS, I'll miss you like people missed the prohibition in the thirties ;)

LOL, think about job security if you work for USCIS.

OK today I was trying something new:

I've checked on USCIS site all the numbers from:

MSC 06 16x xxx20 to MSC 06 16x xxx60

The three ones bellow are the ones on the receipt I've received.

MSC 06 16x xxx44 (I-485 Mother)
MSC 06 16x xxx43 (I-130 Father)
MSC 06 16x xxx41 (I-485 Father)

Then,

MSC 06 16x xxx46 is an I-130

Other 12 combinations are I-765's and the rest of 25 combinations are "Case doesn't exist"

So out of 41 combinations, 20 before my numbers and 15 after, there was only one I-130

I think at this point is 99% safe to assume that the only one I-130 is my mom's case number since it has the same receipt date too?!?

Apparently my mom's I-130 Notice of Action is not going to come through the mail.

Should I call the 800# and ask for another receipt?

I've kind of figured out what's her Receipt number, but I'd like to have it in writing from CIS.

I'd give it a try and call 1-800 blahblah. Be prepaired for a long wait, go to the bathroom first, then grab something to drink and snack and sit at your computer while your listening to their music for like 40 minutes.
But it's worth it once you figured out what's wrong with your mom's case. They should be able to track her I-130 by all the information from the other cases they already have.

And besides that I'm 99% sure that I've figured out what's her Receipt Number, but I want to have the hard copy of the Receipt for my records.

Thread closed = everyone shuts up = end of discussion. This includes you as well. So stop picking and move on. What do you expect, an apology letter?? This is the last im going to talk about this, if you wish to be banned from this forum for harassment, you can be my guest and continue posting on this topic.

It's really to bad to see how some people have nothing else to do but disturb conversations that are so important to others... No other comment on that.
I have a question about Receipt numbers... this is the conversation right ;)

Anyways, I can't find my AOS interview notice but I do have my AOS FP notice. Is the receipt number on my FP notice the same as the one that would be on my interview notice since it is for the same case (my AOS)?
Thank you for your answers :)

FYI, I called the 800 number for USCIS; if you haven't called yet, don't waste your time, they don't have access to your case. I don't know what they are good for! Anyway, I tried to get my receipt number through them and couldn't..
Good luck with your mom's case

OK, you're in Massachusetts, probably in a small town, going to a public college, you're illegal, probable came here on a tourist visa from Kenya, you're computer ID may track you down or track down a computer at the campus library, and most importantly you hate this country.

Judging from this message of yours should I understand that your email address is the one you post here?

ill do my best to explain this, but i know this person who was illegal, and a new law came out in december of 2005, where illegal people got freen cards in like one month, and he did, he doesnt have 2 go bk to india after 2 yrs or 5 yrs or anything like that. and ppl are saying this will come back again, so just wanna say HEADS UP people, and let me know if i can help u further., my email is kiko11@rediffmail.com, and pls in the heading line put "immigrationportal" so i dont think its spam.

If I've missed something let me know a.s.a.p. I'm trying to forward these info with a copy of all your posts to people who may be interested to have a chat with you (I'm not talking about CIS, I think FBI is more appropriate ;))

Please if they contact you for a "chat" try to be more clear, drop the SMS b.s. :D :D :D

P.S. About the apology in writing how Ari suggested, OK there it is:
I'm sorry I've wasted my time with an idiot like you, I should've done what I'm planing to do now from the beginning.
;)

It's the same number for one case whatever NOA they send you.
In your case it's only one I-485 with only one number MSC XXXX whatsoever.

The receipt number is what you need to have them open your "account".
Why in the world can't you find your interview notice ? It's one of the most important documents in your actual situation since you got to bring to the interview, otherwise they might not even give you access into the building.

I always make copies right away when I receive an important document or letter. I think is a good idea, exactly for the same reason, God forbidden something happens to the original

Try to input your receipt number from the FP notice to their website...it's a slim chance it is going to match someone else I-130 case.

Also the receipt number should be on the back of the check you paid with
.

I forgot to mention I went to the interview already, last week. I actually thing the officer who interviewd us kept it (probably by mistake) with the other docs we gave her.
Thank you for clearing the receipt number story out though, it was very helpful. i open an account at USCIS to get updates on my status so I guess now, I just have to wait..
