Receipt date for I-765 and I-485

The fees for our I-765 and I-485 were deducted from our bank accounts today. But i realized that the Texas service center has used the date it opened the application as the receipt date. I sent the application Aug4 which was received by TSC on Aug6. But in the notice TSC has given Oct2 as receipt date. My idea was that USCIS used the date they received the application by mail as the receipt date and not when they opened the application weeks/months later. What is everyone else's experience with this?
 
When you say "But in the notice TSC has given Oct2 as receipt date." are you looking at the physical receipt sent out by USCIS or you are just looking at the USCIS website by taking the numbers from back of your check. Because the website normally shows the notice date and you should not worry about it. Your actual physical notice will show you correct Receipt date.

Hi lengthylabor,
I actually looked at the USCIS website by taking the numbers from back of the processed checks. If the actual notice shows earlier receipt dates then that would be good. Thanks for your input.
 
THere are two dates on my notice. Receipt date (Aug 17 -when they received my application) and the Notice Date (Sep 11- when they sent the receipt to me). Hope that helps.

BTW, where do you go on USCIS website to check the status etc? Thanks.
 
I filed for I765, 485 and AP on July 25th 2007 at TSC. I received the 485 receipt notice with July25th as the receipt date. I did not receive any receipt notice for the 765, but received the EAD cards itself on Sept 23rd 2007. No news abt AP.

I am expecting my wife's receipt notice. It was recieved by USCIS on July 27th.
Can you please provide the first 5 digits (starting with 07) in the receipt notice EAC-07-???-xxxxx
I am afraid they might have the receipt date as the date when the opened the mail for my wife's case.

I think it is important to have the correct receipt date and not a later date.

I got my receipt notices recently and the date of receipt is the date USCIS actually received the application by mail. The date they opened the application is the date the notice was sent out. So thats a good thing.
