Hi friends, let me share my experience with you all about my 485 receipt. My lawyer mailed the packet on 7/20/2001 and we did not receive any info till Oct 26th . Since company checks are valid only for 90 days (according to our accounts manger) we decided to file again. I lost the hope about my 1st 485 application. Last Saturday I got my AP from 1st application. I called INS and talked an IIO ,she gave me the EAC number . Till now my lawyer did not receive the receipts but I got AP!!!.INS opened my 1st application after 4 months and cashed the checks even though it was valid for 90 days. Luckily my company did not do a stop payment on those checks. I checked with couple of banking experts they said most of the big organization won’t check for the dates on the checks , it takes lots of man power and they don’t have that much time. So friends if you are not getting the receipts even after 3 months don’t panic, it will come and don’t do a stop payment on the checks. Hope this will help some of you.
